Beach Run!
I had a beautiful (and unexpected) beach run today! I was scheduled for a 12 mile run and was going to do trails however at this particular park most of them were closed. However, since my wonderfully supportive husband drove me an hour to this park I wasn't about to ask him to turn around and take me back home. The beach however was open and gorgeous with helpful signs showing mileage! So I did my 12 miles along the ocean on the beach. Talk about beautiful! A bit of an adventure as it was a wildlife refuge with lots of animals and beautiful dunes and few people. It was very peaceful (if you can call a 12 mile run that) Oh I wish I had had my camera....
My new camelback also worked great! Good thing since its not like there are water fountains around either. I will have to adjust it however as there was a tad bit of chafing around the hip. All in all it worked fabulously!
And cheers for my ever supportive husband who maybe doesn't run but patiently drove me out to the park and did his own thing so I could complete my run! Yay!

sorry, if this is repeated. the web just ate my first comment to you...
i need to get out there and do some beach runs. i have no excuse since i live so close to them.
i am glad that you had a good experience with the camelbak. i have been experimenting the last few months with different hydration systems. 2.5 hours and under is served well by my 6 bottle fuel belt. however, anything longer, or hot days, are perfect for my hydration pack.
what do you think of the bladder system? is it easy to refill?
congrats on such a great, peaceful beach run!
I love beach runs! I lived on Tybee Island outside of Savannah for a couple of years. It's one of my favorite places. My wife and I had a few road trips to SC.
Oh great, now we look like the same (well not the injuries, touch wood).
I run with a camel at the beach!
Great to know there is more people using it despite not running an ultra!
I'm so jealous - a beach run sounds great!
Sounds nice, especially about supportive and patient husband:) Try shorten straps on camelback.
ohhh, awesome....
Maybe I should try running at the beach too, I'll have to keep that in mind, thanks! Nice running there!
in reply to matt...
The bladder system is removable and pretty easy to refill.
It has a large cap a few inches in diameter that just screws off so its easy to refill. it has a handle too so it is easy to screw back on without spilling. Of course you need to stop and definitely need both hands but its not complicated or anything. Are you looking for something that is super easy that you can do one handed or don't have to remove from the rest of the back?
