Wild Running Turnips

Running is my obsession and here is how running fits into my life. In a world where most think I am nuts (ok, its not just the running that makes them think that!) and would rather be on the couch I am eager to connect with other runners for support through all the trials, injuries, races, wierd food preferences that make a runner a runner. Enjoy!

Nice weather! yay! ....for a 12 mile run!

Finally we had a Saturday when it wasn't yucky and raining! I don't mind doing my trail runs in the rain (its actually kind of fun), but it was nice to run in the sunshine for a change! It made for a very beautiful 12 mile trail run.
65 degrees, sunny, a light cool breeze and not a cloud in the sky (I understand some northerners are probably drooling)
It was a good run as for once I behaved myself on Friday night and was well rested. I felt pretty strong the whole run too although my legs were very clear about the fact that the last 2 miles was 2 miles further than they had run before. I was only averaging about 10:40-10:50/mile but I got lots of time to speed up for the race.
I also discovered a runner's best friend - EPSOM SALTS! After my long run I took a nice soak in an Epsom salt bath and it was sooooo soothing and made me not sore for once on Sunday. I highly reccommend it!

I am not sure if I could run with rain in cold weather, at least not from the start point, bbrrrr.

Sound like a delicious bath!!

i will have to try out the epsom salts, too. my legs are aching after a recent 1/2 marathon. thanks for the suggestion :)

i love the rainy trail runs, too, but around here there's so much clay in the soil, you tend to take and extra couple pounds of mud along with you. =)

your run, though, sounds fantastic. glad you had some decent weather!
