Wild Running Turnips

Running is my obsession and here is how running fits into my life. In a world where most think I am nuts (ok, its not just the running that makes them think that!) and would rather be on the couch I am eager to connect with other runners for support through all the trials, injuries, races, wierd food preferences that make a runner a runner. Enjoy!

St Patty's Day was a BLAST. There were no mishaps, arrests or anything of the sort. We all had a GREAT time, were safe and definitely needed a full day of recovery for the sake of our hepatic health! We saw everything green - green wigs, green boas, green tights, shoes, bras, tiaras, sunglasses, wands, wings, you name it- someone was wearing it in green! The bands were awesome, the food vendors were phenomenal, and of course the beer was overpriced (4$ for aBudLight??!!) but we expected that, and of course did not care!
After a long lazy day of recovery on Sunday, I was back at it to training with an easy 4 miler yesterday and a 4 mile tempo run today (6 miles total including 1 mile warm-up and cool down)
I must say that the weekend off from running has made me feel a little bit fresher this week. Good thing since it is 14 miles this weekend! Here is the breakdown for the week including what I have done so far this week.

Monday - 4 miles
Tuesday - 6 miles (1 mile warm-up and cooldown, 4 mile tempo at 9:00/mile)
Wedensday - 5 miles (easy)
Thursday - 5 miles (hills)
Friday - REST
Saturday - 14 miles

TOTAL : 34 miles

I don't know why but I had a terrible time getting up this morning. I went to bed early, slept well, but I was totally unmotivated - maybe because it was cold and rainy? I am of course glad I got out there and did it, but even my pace seemed slowed possibly due to my lack of motivation to get up...Probably, hopefully my motivation will improve throughout the week.

Great job!! I raced over the weekend too. There was this tall skinny pale guy running in just bright green short-shorts and green shamrock pasties on his chest! OMG!

OK so I am slow and didn't read the post before hand about you not racing. Sorry...Good job on your run anyhow. The race I did was actually in VA beach, and I forget if I told you but I used to live in Norfolk. Let me know if you need some fun stuff to do next time you go...although I am sure you can think of some on your own! ahahaha
